Estara
Accessibility Statement
This statement was last updated on March 25, 2025.
We at Estara Corporation are working to make our site www.estara.ca accessible to people with disabilities.
What web accessibility is
An accessible site allows visitors with disabilities to browse the site with the same or a similar level of ease and enjoyment as other visitors. This can be achieved with the capabilities of the system on which the site is operating, and through assistive technologies.
Accessibility standards we follow
We have adapted this site in accordance with WCAG 2.1 - guidelines, and have made the site accessible to the level of AA. This site's contents have been adapted to work with assistive technologies, such as screen readers and keyboard use. As part of this effort, our site is designed to be:
-
Perceivable: information and interface components are presentable to users in ways they can perceive, including adequate colour contrast, text alternatives for images, and captions for any video content.
-
Operable: all functionality is accessible via keyboard navigation; no content requires a mouse. We avoid time limits where possible and provide skip navigation links.
-
Understandable: text is written in plain language; form fields are clearly labelled; error messages identify the problem and suggest corrections.
-
Robust: our platform is built using semantic HTML and ARIA landmarks so it works reliably with current assistive technologies including screen readers (NVDA, JAWS, VoiceOver) and magnification software.
Current accessibility features
Website
-
Semantic HTML5 structure with proper heading hierarchy.
-
All images include descriptive alt text; decorative images are marked to be ignored by screen readers.
-
Colour contrast ratios meet or exceed the WCAG 2.1 AA minimum (4.5:1 for normal text, 3:1 for large text).
-
The website is fully navigable by keyboard. Focus indicators are visible at all times.
-
No content flashes more than three times per second.
-
Text can be resized up to 200% without loss of content or functionality.
Compliance platform
-
All form inputs have programmatically associated labels.
-
Error messages clearly identify the field in error and describe the required correction.
-
Data tables include proper header markup (<th> with scope attributes) for screen reader compatibility.
-
Status messages (success, warning, error) are announced to assistive technologies without requiring focus.
-
Session timeout warnings are provided in advance with an option to extend the session.
-
PDF documents generated by the platform are tagged and structured for screen reader compatibility.
Known Limitations
We are aware of the following areas where we are actively working to improve accessibility:
-
Complex data visualisation charts in the executive analytics dashboard: we are adding text-based data tables as an alternative to all charts, targeted for completion in Q3 2025.
-
Some legacy-formatted file exports may not be fully tagged for screen reader use. We are addressing this in our Phase 2 platform update.
If you encounter an accessibility barrier not listed above, please contact us (see Section 6).
AODA compliance
In compliance with the Integrated Accessibility Standards Regulation (IASR) under the AODA, we:
-
Provide this accessibility statement and maintain a documented accessibility plan.
-
Offer accessible formats and communication supports upon request. Contact us and we will work with you to provide information in an accessible format within a reasonable time frame.
-
Ensure our customer service practices accommodate persons with disabilities, including acceptance of assistive devices and support persons.
-
Train all staff who interact with clients or the public on AODA requirements and accessible customer service.
Our multi-year Accessibility Plan is available upon request.
